Babyparin injection uses in IVF

17 Feb 2025

What are the uses of Babyparin injection in IVF treatment

Babyparin belongs to enoxaparin group of drugs.

Babyparin is often prescribed to support fertility treatments such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET). This medication is particularly beneficial due to its ability to:

  • Prevent blood clots from forming around the embryo and placenta.
  • Enhance the uterine lining’s receptivity to the embryo by increasing essential cellular substances.
  • Stimulate growth factors at the implantation site.
  • Promote the production of proteins that anchor the early embryo to the uterine lining.
  • Potentially reduce the impact of immune-related factors contributing to recurrent miscarriage.

Babyparin is also used during pregnany as,

  • it reduces miscarriage chances
  • Reduces IUGR
  • Reduces Pre eclampsia chances during pregnancy

Primary Uses in Pregnancy:

  1. Prevention of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE):
    • VTE, which includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is a serious condition that can occur during pregnancy. Babyparin significantly reduces the risk of these blood clots.
  2. Prevention of Pregnancy Loss in Thrombophilic Women:
    • Women with certain blood clotting disorders (thrombophilias) are at increased risk of miscarriage. Babyparin can help prevent blood clots that might interfere with a healthy pregnancy.
  3. Treatment of Existing VTE:
    • If a woman develops a blood clot during pregnancy, Babyparin is often used to treat the condition.
  4. Prophylaxis of Arterial Thrombosis:
    • In pregnant women with mechanical heart valves, Babyparin helps prevent blood clots from forming in the heart.
  5. Potential Role in Preventing Preeclampsia and Intrauterine Growth Restriction:
    • Some studies suggest a potential benefit of Babyparin in preventing these pregnancy complications, but more research is needed.

Safety and Considerations:

Generally Safe: Babyparin does not cross the placenta, making it safe for the fetus.
