ICSI is recommended when male factor infertility is the primary concern, or when conventional IVF has not resulted in fertilisation.
Oligospermia — fewer than 15 million sperm per mL.
Sperm unable to swim normally (asthenospermia).
High proportion of abnormally shaped sperm (teratospermia).
No sperm in ejaculate — retrieved via TESA or PESA.
Failed fertilisation with conventional IVF in a previous cycle.
Immune factors preventing sperm from fertilising the egg naturally.
1. Ovarian Stimulation
The female partner receives hormone injections to produce multiple mature eggs, monitored by ultrasound every 2–3 days.
2. Egg Retrieval
Eggs are collected under mild sedation via a fine needle guided by ultrasound. The procedure takes 15–20 minutes.
3. Sperm Preparation
A sperm sample is processed in the lab. If sperm count is very low or absent, TESA/PESA may be performed to retrieve sperm directly from the testis.
4. Single Sperm Injection
A single healthy sperm is selected under high magnification and injected directly into each mature egg using a microscopic glass needle.
5. Embryo Culture
Fertilised eggs develop into embryos over 3–5 days in our AI-monitored time-lapse incubators.
6. Embryo Transfer
The best-quality embryo is transferred into the uterus. A pregnancy blood test (beta-hCG) is done 12–14 days later.
